Dial-Up Instructions

Install
the Remote Access Service and Dial-Up Networking by referring
to your NT 4.0 Instruction Manual. Double-click on Dial-Up
Networking and select New. Enter SawNet as the
new phonebook entry name.

- In the Server Dialog
box, check the
box next to I am calling the Internet.
Click Next.
- In the Modem and Adapter dialog, select the modem you
are using.

Click Next.
- In the Phone Number dialog, enter the phone number closes to
your location from the list below.

Click Next and then Finish.
- Adjusting the Properties: Select the SawNet entry and
click on More/ edit entry and modem properties. Fill in the dialog
boxes as they are filled in the following dialogs.
Basic Tab
Entry name: SawNet
Phone Number: Choose a number closest to your location from the
list above.
Dial using: The modem your using.

Configure Tab
Check Enable hardware flow control
Check Enable modem error control
Check Enable modem compression

Server Tab
Check TCP/IP
Check Enable Software Compression
Check Enable PPP LCP extensions
Click on the TCP/IP settings button
TCP/IP Settings
Check Server assigned IP address
Check Specify name server addresses
In the Primary DNS and Secondary DNS boxes, put
the numbers located in the dialog below.
Check Use IP header compression
Check Use default gateway on remote network.

Click OK.
Script Tab
Check the first box None.
Security Tab
Cleck the box next to Accept any authentication uncluding clear
text.
There are no entries for the X.25 tab
If you're in the Portland area, you need to set up for 10-digit
dialing. Refer to the Windows NT 10-digit dialing instructions in
your manual.
Now Select Dial from the Dial-Up Networking dialog
and fill in your username and password., The Domain name
entry will remain empty.
