TCP/IP Configuration for DSL
-
Qwest
DSL modem users must have the modem set to Bridged Ethernet
Mode. Instructions are in the Qwest DSL manual.
- Adding TCP/IP
Press Start on your Desktop, go to Settings, Control
Panels, then Network.
Now click on Add.

- Select Protocol
-
Select
Microsoft as the Manufacturer and
TCP/IP as the Network Protocol.
Click OK until you return to your Desktop. Restart
your computer.

Configuring TCP/IP
Go back to the Networking Control Panel
and double-click on the TCP/IP for your
Network Card. Be sure that the box is checked
next to Obtain an IP address automatically.

- Click on the DNS Configuration tab
The Hostname is whatever you choose
The Domain is your domain
Restart your Computer, Your DSL connection is now complete.
- Disabling your Dial-Up Connection
In your Control Panels, open Internet or Internet
Options. Click on the Connections Tab.

Select Connect to the Internet using a local area network.
Then click OK.
- If your using Internet Explorer 5.x, Select Never Dial a
Connection. Your window will be similar to the one below.
Click on the LAN Settings button.
Automatically detect settings should already be checked.
If the box is not checked, do so. Click OK until you're back to
your desktop and you're done.
